Additional Notes:
The #3000 series of transitional bench planes have either the first style Horseshoe shaped pivot lateral lever (Type 1) or the Second lateral riveted lever, depending on age. Type 3 planes (2″ wide version) are not marked VBM on either the body casting or the cutter.
The lever caps feature a very distinctive arrow feather pattern.
