Additional Notes:

The Sargent No. 1080-PB combination plane was the same plane as the No. 1080 except that it was packed in a cardboard, or pasteboard, box rather the a wooden case. This was a less expensive option to purchasing the plane – $15.50 as opposed to $17.50 in the 1926 Sargent Planes catalog, for instance – which meant that the buyer would be responsible for making their own box to house the plane and its various attachments and cutters, should they so desire. The “PB” in the model name stands for Paste Board.

This plane was closely modeled on Stanley’s No. 45 combination plane. The main difference being in the way the cutters were placed in the adjusting wheel, using two notches to engage the supports in the screw nut.
